Shogo Nunoshita embracing-damage 020

Shogo Nunoshita's latest work, the embracing-damage tea bowl. This work is a reconstruction of early Imari pottery shards using a dry lacquer technique with gold coating. The cypress is expressed using lacquer and maki-e. By deliberately leaving traces of Imari's unique distortions and sticking during firing, the taste and playfulness of ancient pottery remains intact, and the modern luster of lacquer and the shine of gold overlap to create a striking contrast. It is a large and powerful work.
